UEA holds the personal papers of two suffragette sisters, Annie Kenney and Jessie Kenney, major figures in the WSPU. Annie Kenney was the only working class woman to become a leader within WSPU. The collection consists of letters, photographs, press-cuttings, unpublished manuscripts, books and memorabilia. The letters include correspondence with Lady Constance Lytton and Christobel Pankhurst. There are also bound volumes of The Suffragette and Britannia.
News: UEA has received Heritage Lottery Funding for a public outreach project, Suffragette Stories, that will see material from the archive used in libraries and schools across Norfolk to celebrate the centenary of some women achieving the vote. The project will produce learning resources for wider use and help us digitise 100 items from the archive.
