The British Archive for Contemporary Writing (BACW) builds on the University’s international reputation for creative writing, the status of Norwich as a UNESCO City of Literature, and UEA’s strong links with writers of world renown through its international literary festivals and links with the British Centre for Literary Translation and the National Centre for Writing based in Norwich.

The Collections are available to students and scholars and to interested members of the public by prior arrangement.

Opening hours: Mon - Fri 09.30-12.30 and 13.30-16.30 (pre-arranged appointments only). 

Current exhibition (Archives Foyer, Floor 02 UEA Library): Angela Carter & Japan. Curated by Professor Natsumi Ikoma this display, including exhibits from the Lorna Sage Archive at UEA,  examines the influence of Japanese culture on Carter's writing and teaching at UEA.
