Parking on campus is at a premium but staff can help their visitors  by encouraging them to plan ahead and providing them with information.  The University provides a free park & ride service 511 from Costessey Park & Ride site with a headway frequency of every 15 minutes throughout the day.   Please see our dedicated page for visitors to help them park.

Visitor Parking Charges

If you do not wish your guest to pay for parking, a Visitor Parking Permit  can be arranged in advance. Visitors without permits must pay standard visitor parking charges.

The current charges are:

Term time charges – Main Car Park:
Monday to Friday, 06.00 am – 10.00 am
£5.00 per hour
Monday to Friday, 10.00 am - 6pm  £3.00 per 2 hours
  £3.50 per 3 hours
  £4.50 per 4 hours
  £5.50 per 5 hours
  £6.50 per 6 hours
  £7.50 per 7 hours
All other times (including Weekends and Bank Holidays) £1.00 flat fee


Short stay parking charges (Max. 2hr Stay):

Central & Suffolk Walk car parks

Monday to Friday, 06.00 am – 18.00 pm £3.00 per 2 hour
Monday to Friday, 18.00 pm – 02:00 am £1.00 flat fee
All other times (including Weekends and Bank Holidays) £1.00 flat fee


Charges are collected by pay-on-foot machines in the Main Car Park (P1) and by Pay & Display on the rest of the campus. Cashless parking payments are available for Pay & Display car parks only via on-line or via your mobile phone using

Arranging an event?

If you are arranging an event at the university, please see our section on planning events on campus for tips and guidance. Amongst other things you will need to contact the Security team for advice on parking.

Top tips for guest parking

  • Suggest guests use the free park & ride service 511 from Costessey Park & Ride site.

  • Arrange meetings for after 2pm when there is less demand for parking

  • Where possible, schedule regular meetings to take place during vacation periods or reading weeks when demand for parking is reduced

  • Make sure visitors know which car parks are available to them and who to contact should parking prove difficult. The Lodge can provide assistance on 01603 592353

  • Provide information on public transport / taxi companies with meeting or event invitations or ask attendees to share journeys

  • Please ensure your visitors are aware of the charges and the need to have change available

Visitors to the University are advised to read the UEA Vehicle Regulations.  Parking Charge Notices may be issued to vehicles in breach of the Regulations.
