The UEA Building Design Guide 2017

The new 2017 version of the Design Guide is now available. Changes between the 2016 and 2017 versions are highlighted in yellow in the text so they can be easily identified.

(The 2016 version can be sent by request – please use the email address below.)

1. Ensure new build and refurbishment projects meet the UEA's specialist needs

2. Reduce the time required to develop and agree comprehensive design briefs, designs and specifications

3. Reduce technical and commercial risk

4. Improve value for money on a whole life basis.

The Building Design guide sets out principles, philosophies and general requirements for projects, providing a means of controlling quality for the performance of buildings and the campus as a whole. It aims to ensure that UEA's strategic requirements are met, rather than provide an exhaustive treatment of statutory compliance or best practice design; its primary purpose is to establish a starting point for design briefs.

The UEA welcomes feedback on the Design Guide and all correspondence should be sent to est.designguide@uea.ac.uk although any project-specific queries should be addressed to the relevant UEA project manager.
