Wellbeing Workshops March - June 2018


When someone we care about dies it is normal and healthy for us to grieve our loss. Our feelings at this time may be among the most profound and painful we ever experience.

Adjusting to student life while dealing with grief can be difficult. This group aims to bring together students who are experiencing these feelings, giving them the opportunity to share their experiences and coping strategies with each other.

You are welcome to attend one or all of the following dates:

4 Ways to Stress Less : Exams!

A workshop for stressed students

With pressure mounting with deadlines and exams, it can be difficult to focus and maintain stress levels under pressure. This can have a knock-on effect to our work, creating a vicious circle: too stressed to work, but stressed because you can't work.

This workshop looks at 4 techniques that you can use to help manage anxiety and stress in exam term.

Managing Low Mood and Anxiety

This workshop is made up of 4 groups each with 4 weekly sessions. You only need to book onto one group. Throughout these sessions we will explore experiences of low mood, anxiety and panic from a Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) perspective, and introduce evidence based strategies that can be used to ease these difficulties and improve our overall wellbeing.

Wellbeing Fundamentals

We will look at what it takes to be well and resilient in the face of challenges:

  • Reminding you of the basic principles of keeping a good balance
  • Finishing with tips and actions to add to your daily routine

This workshop runs fortnightly on Wednesdays, please attend one of the following

First Aid for Feelings

Learn to...

  • Regulate your mood & emotions
  • Increase skillful behaviours
  • Experience thoughts & emotions without acting on them
  • Decrease the frequency & intensity of unpleasant emotions
  • Increase positive thoughts & emotions
  • Tolerate difficult situations & emotional pain

Mindful Walking

Students Support Service is offering mindful walking for students.

Come and walk for ten minutes with focused awareness to help reduce stress and anxiety.

The sessions will explore a variety of techniques used in Mindfulness based approaches to wellbeing. 

Mindfulness can help us:

  • Develop inner resources to cope with stress, anxiety and depression;
  • Cope with difficulty and experience a greater sense of calm and wellbeing.

This workshop consists of 4 consecutive sessions. We advise that students attend all of the sessions to get the most out of this workshop.

Session 3) 8th May – 1pm – 2pm

Session 4) 15th May – 1pm – 2pm
