Extra money from the university if you are experiencing financial hardship Extra money from the university if you are experiencing financial hardship

UEA offers hardship funds for those struggling to pay for living costs while at university. Although students are expected to ensure that they have sufficient funds to meet the cost of their tuition fees and living expenses before starting their course, we recognise that in people's lives circumstances may change.  Unexpected financial crises may occur due to to a family bereavement or emergency or other ongoing costs.

The Financial Advisers in the Student Support Service can discuss the options available to you. Please feel free to make an appointment with an adviser to see if applying to the hardship fund is suitable for your needs.

If you are a HUM Postgraduate research (PGR) student, your department has set up a small fund for help with additional expenses you might incur especially in the latter stages of your PhD.  Any HUM PGR student may apply using an ordinary hardship fund application form, found on our website.  The terms and conditions of the Fund can be found here.
