Student Services is dedicated to delivering our full range of services. However, during this challenging time we are adapting how we support you. Learning Enhancement Tutors are offering tutorials remotely (e.g. by telephone, Skype or email).

Learning Enhancement Tutors can offer guidance on a wide range of study skills, academic writing, including use of English, and the mathematical and statistical parts of your course.

Our service is available to all students registered on UEA courses and is free and confidential. We are available throughout the year, except when the University is closed.

Please note that if you have a Specific Learning Difficulty you can also access tutorial support with a specialist tutor.

Please note that we do not offer a proofreading service, though we can provide you with a list of proofreaders. Remember to read UEA's policy on the use of proofreaders before using a proofreading service. You can access the policy by visiting our pages on plagiarism.

If you would like to speak to a tutor about your work it is important to plan ahead and book early. Only one tutorial can be booked at a time and we cannot usually offer more than one individual or small group tutorial per week. The availability of repeat appointments may be limited due to demand. Please note that if you do not arrive on time for your appointment your tutor might not be able to see you.

Non-attendance and cancellations Non-attendance and cancellations

We recognise that sometimes late cancellations are unavoidable. However, given the high demand for our support, if you cannot attend your tutorial please let us know at least 24 hours before the appointment time so that we may give the appointment to another student.

If you do not attend your tutorial or cancel with less than 24 hours' notice you may not be offered another tutorial for 7 days. If this happens on three occasions we reserve the right to withdraw availability of tutorials.

We want our advice to you to be as useful as possible. For this reason please bring with you printed copies of any of the following that are relevant:

  • marked work with feedback;
  • module handbooks and assignment guidelines, essay questions or lecture notes;
  • past exam papers;
  • problem sheets;
  • any work in progress which you would like to discuss.
