Chris started working at UEA in 2002 and directed and taught on a number of courses in English Language and Study Skills at UEA and INTO before joining the Learning Enhancement Team in 2009. Chris has built strong relationships with EDU, RSC and LCS, for whom he organises and teaches an MA module.
Chris delivers workshops and tutorials on all aspects of academic writing and study skills, and has a particular interest in issues relating to English language and cross-cultural communication. As well as his work with students, Chris delivers workshops for lecturers wishing to develop their teaching practice, particularly in relation to issues concerning international students.
Chris graduated with a BA (Hons) in English from Bangor University, and has an MA in Linguistics, Society and Culture from UEA. He also has a Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and has taught students from over eighty countries in the UK, Italy and Australia. He has also worked as an Associate Lecturer for the Open University, and contributed to the writing of the OU's online course in English for Academic Purposes.
