Entries for the Innovation and Impact Awards 2020 close midday Wednesday 13 November.


Staff, students and graduates are encouraged to enter projects and research that have generated significant impact regionally, nationally and internationally, collaborated with partners beyond academia, or that showcase their entrepreneurial flair for innovation.


2020 sees the introduction of new categories to broaden the reach of the Awards further. Entrants can apply for the following categories:


  • Award for Student or Graduate Innovation or Enterprise
  • Outstanding Impact in Policy and Practice
  • Outstanding Commercialisation of Research – new!
  • Outstanding Social or Cultural Impact
  • Outstanding Impact in Health, Wellbeing and Welfare 
  • Consultancy Project of the Year
  • Partnership of the Year – new!
  • Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Achievement – new! Selected from all entries



Three shortlisted finalists from each category are invited to the Awards ceremony and three-course dinner at the Sainsbury Centre on Thursday 6 February 2020 when the winners are announced. Each finalist will receive a trophy and feature in the Innovation & Impact Awards brochure and subsequent media coverage. The winner for each category will also receive a budget of £2,500 to help support their project.
