Writing an application
Your Project Officer can provide help and advice on your application. They do not comment on the academic content since you should seek this from your academic colleagues. However they can advise on most other aspects – layout, conformity with funding agency rules, how clearly the main sections are described and come across to the reader, how reasonable the requested resources are etc.
Most funders give quite detailed instructions on their websites on the format, content and structure of applications. You should read these in detail and follow the guidance given.
The University requires that the ‘full economic cost’ of all applications is calculated. Your Project Officer will be able to advise and prepare the required costing (using specialist software).
Internal peer review
The aim of internal peer review is to ensure that your application has the best possible chance of success. All applications to UK Research Councils must be reviewed internally, and some Schools/Faculties have additional requirements. Please check these with your Project Officer in order to allow sufficient time at application development stage.
Authorisation to submit
The University requires that ALL grant applications (including outline applications) be approved prior to submission. Your Project Officer can advise.
