Did you hear about the one-day 'Women of the Future' conference on 23rd April 2015?
This was a unique event for over 200 Year 10 girls and a collaboration between the John Innes Centre, ResNet and UEA. It was led by ResNet committee members who brought together women from academia and industry to meet and interact with bright and enthusiastic girls from Norfolk and Suffolk.
'It was a great day and we certainly helped to inspire the next generation of female STEMM professionals!' said Gill Malin, ResNet Chair.
Seller Keynote speaker was Dr. Maggie Aderin-Pocock, space scientist and BBC presenter who broke down stereotypes and helped make an exciting career in science seem much more attainable.
We had sponsorship from various sources, including Intel who provided an all-female film crew to capture the event WoF Video. The impact was also captured via social media WoFStorify
We hope to collaborate again on this as an annual event to benefit school girls in Norfolk, if you would like to get involved or know someone who might like to, please email ResNet and let us know. Further information can also be found on our event website http://nextgenstemm.org.uk/wotf/
Thanks to all involved!
