Alongside the facilities open to all students at UEA, the following facilities are available specifically for postgraduate researchers:

The Doctoral College Training Room and Study Centre
The University has completed the main refurbishment of the Constable Terrace common room into:

  • The Doctoral College Training Room, primarily used for PGR training events for up to 50 postgraduate researchers per session, and
  • The Doctoral College Study Centre, a social and study area for postgraduate researchers, with soft chairs and vending machine, and a drop-in work space, open 24/7 on card access. Postgraduate researchers are welcome to use this space, and can use the lockers provided.

An upcoming phase of work will be to improve the nearby Doctoral College Meeting Room so that it is equipped with the most useful items for holding postgraduate research vivas, whether face-to-face or by videoconferencing.

The Library Postgraduate Research Study Room
The Library offers a reserved area for postgraduate researchers on Floor 2, with 39 study spaces including 7 PCs and 60 lockers, available on a first come first served basis. 


The Student Union Graduate Centre
The Graduate Centre is the upstairs space within Union House dedicated to Postgraduate and Mature Undergraduate Students. This space consists of: Scholars Bar, Scholars Lounge, the Graduate Kitchen, and two study rooms with IT facilities which can be booked at the Scholars Bar. The Graduate Centre is managed by the Graduate Centre Manager, with entry via card access.
