Colchester Institute is a further and higher education provider, specialising in vocational learning, which operates throughout north Essex and is one of the University of East Anglia’s newest partnerships. It has multiple campuses across the region including Colchester, Braintree, Harwich, and Clacton. Higher Education (HE) is delivered exclusively from University Centre Colchester (UCC), Colchester Institute’s purpose-built HE centre.

University Centre Colchester offers a broad range of course subjects and levels, from arts to engineering and apprenticeships to degrees. Students studying at University Centre Colchester can study UEA validated courses in Business and Management; Fashion and Printed Textiles, Fine Art, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering; Photography; Policing Practice; Music for Media; Music for Performance and Teaching; Popular Music, Architectural Technology, Quantity Surveying and Site Management Construction Management; Instrumental Teaching and Sports Coaching, with further programmes being validated over the next few years. Students who successfully complete UEA validated courses will be awarded a UEA degree.

Employability is at the heart of the education provided by University Centre Colchester, with courses having strong vocational and industry-led content to enable students to gain the skills necessary for future employment. University Centre Colchester provides a great range of specialist facilities including well-equipped teaching spaces and private study areas. Students are able to join the newly-equipped College gym and enjoy the friendly atmosphere of the common room. The UCC Academic Services team are situated in the HE Building, and are a central point of contact for all UCC student enquiries.
