Microform is the generic term for books, periodicals, newspapers, documents, etc. which are recorded in miniaturized form on microfilm (a strip of film), microfiche (a sheet of film, usually the size of a filing card), and occasionally on microcard (an opaque sheet of film, usually the size of a filing card).
All such items are described in UEA Library Search together with their reference number. Guides to the arrangement can be found on the walls and stack-ends near the microfilm cabinets.
The following viewing, printing, and scanning facilities are available:
- One microfilm/microfiche reader with local printing.
- One microcard reader (on special request).
- One microfilm/microfiche reader attached to a pc with Locator scanning software (UEA login required).
Local printing costs 6p per page and is paid for with cash at Archives Reception. Local printing is only available 09.30-12.30 & 13.30-16.30 Monday-Friday.
Booking is not essential but if you would like to reserve a microfilm reader/printer for a specific time please contact Archives staff
