Introduction Introduction

Our publishing archives provide collections of significance to those researching the changing landscape of trade publishing through the twentieth century to the present day. The material provides rich insight into the interdependencies between author, publisher and literary agent in the management of an author's career. Included are some of the papers arising from the workings of the oldest literary agency in the world, AP Watt, and the publisher Charles Pick. This includes correspondence with Michael Holroyd, Nadine Gordimer, Anita Desai, Monica Dickens, Paul Gallico, Richard Gordon and Graham Greene.
