Adding an audio-visual asset or short film to the online part of your module can be an easy way to incorporate an alternative location to expand your students’ thinking.
Caister Roman Town
This AV asset was filmed on location by UEA’s Media Production Team to allow Simon Kaner from the school of LDC to introduce his students to Caister Roman Town. As a standalone resource, the film contains information that is of relevance to the students but it also works to facilitate flipped learning. Later on, the students will make a field trip to the Roman town and watching this film before-hand will help them to extract the highest educational value from the visit. Using online material to enhance face to face experiences is the essence of flipped learning and in this particular case the degree of enhancement would have been hard to achieve without the additional use of location.
