The Wi-Fi network at the UEA is called eduroam (education roaming). eduroam is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. 

eduroam allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity across campus, and when visiting other participating institutions by simply using their device. For eduroam to work in other institutions you need to have set it up on your device first at UEA.

Below are instructions on how to get your device connected to eduroam.

Android

  1. Download the Cloudpath app from the Google Play Store using mobile data or an alternative Wi-Fi network.
  2. Connect to the setup-UEA-wireless Wi-Fi network.
  3. Tap the sign in notification.
  4. Read through the Conditions of Computer Use, select the tick box and tap Start.
  5. Open the Cloudpath app.
  6. From the drop-down menu select Manual Configuration URL...
  7. Input setupeduroam.uea.ac.uk then select Continue.
  8. On the next screen select Continue. This will install a security certificate that will keep your device secure when connected to eduroam.
  9. Input your UEA username in the format abc17xyz@uea.ac.uk and password then select Continue. Cloudpath will return you to the first screen.
  10. Select eduroam from the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
  11. You should now be successfully connected to eduroam.

iOS Mobile Devices

  1. From the Home Screen tap the Settings icon. In Settings click on Wi-Fi.
  2. Join the setup-uea-wireless network.
  3. Go to setupeduroam.uea.ac.uk in your web browser. Read through the Conditions of Computer Use, select the tick box and tap Start to begin.
  4. Select Apple iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch from the list of devices and tap Setup Wi-Fi.
  5. Enter your UEA username in the following format abc17xyz@uea.ac.uk.
  6. Your device will ask you to install a certificate. Tap Install to continue. A warning may appear before installing the certificate. The certificate will keep your device secure when connected to eduroam. Tap Install to proceed.
  7. Enter your UEA password and click Next.
  8. Go back to the Wi-Fi tab under Settings and select eduroam from the list of networks.
  9. You should now be successfully connected to eduroam.

Windows Phone

  1. In the menu select Settings.
  2. Select WiFi.
  3. Tap eduroam.
  4. Input your UEA username (in the format abc17xyz@uea.ac.uk) and password. Tap done.
  5. Tap to accept the UEA security certificate. This will keep your device secure when connected to eduroam.
  6. You should now be successfully connected to eduroam.

Windows PC

  1. Bring up the list of available Wi-Fi networks and connect to setup-UEA-wireless.
  2. Once connected this should automatically open your browser and redirect you to the setup page for eduroam. If it does not automatically redirect you navigate to setupeduroam.uea.ac.uk.
  3. Read through the Conditions of Computer Use, select the tick box and tap Start.
  4. Select and download the NetworkWizardLoader.exe. Once complete select the downloaded file to Open.
  5. Windows SmartScreen message may pop up, select Run.
  6. Unput your UEA username in the format abc17xyz@uea.ac.uk and password in the Cloudpath setup wizard. Select Continue.
  7. The wizard will run through the setup and configure your PC for the connection. Once this has been completed is will show the Successfully Configured message. Select Done.
  8. From the list of available Wi-Fi networks select eduroam and Connect.
  9. Input your UEA username (in the format abc17xyz@uea.ac.uk) and password in the Windows Security popup.
  10. You should now be successfully connected to eduroam.

Mac OS

  1. Connect to the setup-UEA-wireless network
  2. Go to setupeduroam.uea.ac.uk in your browser. Read through the Conditions of Computer Use, select the tick box and click Start.
  3. Enter your UEA username in the format abc17xyz@uea.ac.uk. Select Continue.
  4. Click the link to install the network profile. This will download and automatically open.
  5. Select Continue to install the eduroam profile. Installing this will keep your device secure when connected to eduroam.
  6. Select Continue.
  7. You may get asked to enter your security password for your Mac. Then enter your UEA password.
  8. From the Wi-Fi drop select eduroam.
  9. You should now be successfully connected to eduroam.

Visitor Wi-Fi Access

Visiting friends and family can make use of 'The Cloud' Wi-Fi by signing up for an account. This is the same service that you see in hotels, restaurants and shopping centres. Just connect to 'The Cloud' Wi-Fi network and open your browser. Instructions will appear to help you setup an account or login if you are already registered.
