Remote Desktop allows you to connect to, see and control your office computer over the Internet. It is particularly useful when you are working outside the University network, for example when working from home.
New users of Remote Desktop: Connecting for the first time
Tell the IT Service Desk your computer's name. The IT Service Desk will configure your computer to allow you (and only you) to access it remotely.

Test your connection.
You will only be able to create a remote desktop connection if your computer is powered on.
The security of your University computer, the data it holds, and the wider University network may be at risk of compromise if you the computer you are connecting from is not secure.
