Step-by-step instructions for setting up eduroam Wi-Fi on a Windows device
What is eduroam? #
eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community.
eduroam allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity across campus, and when visiting other participating institutions by simply opening their laptop.
Setting up eduroam #
Most wireless enabled laptops, tablets and smartphones will connect to the UEA eduroam Wi-Fi service once you have supplied your account details. Simply follow the steps outlined below.
- Select setup-UEA-wireless from the list of available Wi-Fi networks and click Join or Connect.
- Open your web browser (you may need to refresh the page), you will be redirected to the UEA eduroam setup page. If you are not redirected go to setupeduroam.uea.ac.uk.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process.
NOTE: When asked to input your credentials you must make sure you put @uea.ac.uk at the end of your username before continuing, for example email@example.com.
Visiting another institution? #
If you are visiting another institution that has eduroam you will need to use the same credentials as detailed on this page. You can find out if the institution you are visiting has eduroam by checking eduroam.org
From another institution? #
If you are from another instiutution and have set-up eduroam already then your device will work automatically once you arrive. If you have not already setup eduroam you will need to follow the instructions provided by your home institution.
