The University has an engineering workshop facility that provides a design, prototype and development engineering service for the construction of research and teaching equipment for staff and students within the University and across the Norwich Research Park. External contract work is also undertaken.
The facility consists of both mechanical and electronic workshops and is staffed by four experienced engineers. We provide a full range of services from fitting a simple mains plug or drilling a hole in a piece of wood to the design and construction of complex instrumentation. Work can be undertaken using a wide range of materials.
- Design and development of bespoke instrumentation using CAD software
- Equipment modification and repair
- Routine maintenance of equipment
- Electrical safety advice
- Circuit board prototypes and production
- Precision machining
- TIG and MIG welding
