The HUM Student Transitions Project
"The HUM Student Transitions project is a key part of our strategy to make Arts & Humanities at UEA stand out from the crowd and for our students to become motivated, independent learners who take opportunities, achieve their goals and make a positive difference." Sarah Barrow, PVC HUM
This ambitious project, launched in 2016/17, aims to better tailor our support to Arts & Humanities Faculty students and enhance the student experience while creating a sense of belonging and confidence in the value of the arts and humanities. We have focussed on developing our support around the 5 categories of student needs throughout the whole student journey. This will enhance the student experience and equip our students to take up opportunities, be confident in the value of their subjects and achieve more at UEA and beyond. Impacts in terms of graduate attributes, employability, widening participation, advising and student retention are anticipated as the project progresses.

The focus of the project for 2017/18 is strengthening and integration of student support and development of activities along the 5 transitions themes. We will identify key transitional moments througout the academic lifecycle and the HUM Schools, Faculty and Central University Services will work together to ensure appropriate support or events are highlighted and made available to students no matter what stage of their academic journey they are at.
The academic lead for Transitions is Professor Nick Selby - HUM Associate Dean, Learning and Teaching.
Project management is provided by John Tully - Senior Faculty Manager and Galit Hart - Project Officer.
