Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations

There are regulations surrounding the use and storage of flammable solvents in laboratories, these are called DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2005).  The aim of these is to raise awareness of the dangers of having too great a volume of flammables stored and to ensure stored and in use flammables in the lab are risk assessed.  This does not require individuals to prepare an additional risk assessment but the DSEAR regulations must be considered when preparing CoSHH for any procedures in which flammables are used and should include risks associated with storage of flammables. For more information on DSEAR within the UEA please visit the USS intranet page
