Demand for car parking at the University often outweighs supply: please explore alternative travel options before applying for a permit.

Applying for a permit

University members of staff are eligible to apply for a permit:

We aim to process applications within 3 working days however please allow 10 days during peak times (start of Autumn semester).

Parking charges for permit holders

Parking for permit holders at the university is subject to a daily charge* linked to salary with "bands" to reflect levels of income. Charges will be automatically deducted from your salary (UEA payroll members) or taken from your bank account via direct debit.

Motorcycles are allowed to park free of charge, but must not be parked in vehicle parking bays.

*Charges are in place every day with the exception of Saturdays, Sundays, concessionary days, Bank & Public Holidays. Please note parking for 4 hours or less attracts a 50% discount.

From 1 January 2018 charges for parking will be as follows:

Currently a 50% discount applies to stays of less than four hours.  Going forward the University is exploring as a priority the option to charge by the hour, with the full day capped at the equivalent of 7 hours.  This option would only be available in barrier controlled car parks and is dependent on the use of an improved technical system which is under development.

Swipe card access

Once a permit is issued your campus card will be programmed to provide swipe card access to barriered car parks. Remember to use your campus card on entry and exit (even if barriers are open) for the correct amount to be debited. The parking fee will be automatically debited from salary or bank account via direct debit.

Replacement permits

Lost / Stolen Permits

Lost or stolen permits will be replaced upon payment of a fee of £10.00

Change of Vehicle
If you replace your vehicle a new permit is free of charge as long as you return your existing permit (£10 admin fee is charged otherwise). Please complete a permit change of details form to let us know about changes to your vehicle.
