FAQs for bus users FAQs for bus users

How will the Sky House affect my journey to and from UEA?

We have worked closely with both First and Konect bus companies to ensure their University services continue with minimal disruption to passengers.

In addition, both First and Konect bus companies have fed into the design of the new road network, which will increase capacity at the bus stops from 1-2 buses to 4-5 buses.

Bus stops may be relocated temporarily throughout the course of the project to ensure the service continues and any changes will be clearly communicated to students and staff.

What schemes are UEA putting forward to improve bus service provision?

The University has just negotiated two new Park and Ride options with Konect Bus and from September 2019 there will be an improved service from Watton and Dereham which will also serve the Newmarket Road.

Konect services 3 and 4 are new Park & Ride options that will serve the University directly from both the Sprowston and Airport Park & Rides at peak times and at other times through ticketing (i.e. the Park & Ride ticket valid for other services) will enable passengers to use services 3 & 4 to connect with Park & Ride buses.

Service 3 from Watton via Hingham and Barford and service 4 from Dereham via Yaxham and Mattishall will be rerouted to set down and pick up on the campus and then via Newmarket Road to/from the city. There will also be additional buses running on these services at peak times.

How will the Main Bus Stop be affected by the works?

The low carbon main bus stop (next to the main car park) will need to be relocated as part of the works.

The modular design allows the main bus stop to be taken apart and reassembled and therefore it can be relocated to align with the new road structure.

Temporary stops will be available throughout the different stages of the project and any changes that affect bus users will be clearly communicated in advance.

How will National Express and Megabus be affected?

National Express and Megabus stops on Chancellors Drive and University Drive respectively, will not be affected, meaning services will continue as normal.
