Chancellors Drive roadworks

Starting Monday 28 October a programme of essential infrastructure works will begin on Chancellors Drive.

This will involve significant trenching works along Chancellors Drive which will last until March 2020.

Due to the width of multi-service trenching - which involves the installation of new drainage systems and additional connections to heating and electricity services - a single carriageway on Chancellors Drive will be closed at various points of the work.

Traffic management will be in place to control vehicle movements along Chancellors Drive and pedestrian diversions will be in place to manage the flow of campus users.

A detailed traffic management plan for weeks 1-4 is available here.

These works have been undertaken in a phased approach to enable Chancellors Drive to remain open for the duration of works.

As the trenching involves cutting into concrete these works are likely to generate noise disruption throughout.

This work will be carried out by contractor RG Carter and Breheny on behalf of the UEA Estates and Facilities Division.

Contractor compounds will be located behind the Security Lodge and BIOMASS yard.

Please note: the below dates and programme are subject to change.

Further trenching will be undertaken behind the Security Lodge and the contractor compound. This will mean no pedestrian access behind the Lodge to Chancellors Drive.

A diversion will be created across the Sportspark zebra crossing to manage flow of foot traffic in conjunction with a diversion on Cow Drive to direct foot traffic and cyclists via the INTO building onto University Drive.
