BIO/BMRC District Heating Shutdown

Over the first two weekends of November, a district heating shutdown will temporarily be in place to the Biology Building in support of the reslience works to BIO and BMRC.

Enabling works for this will take place Tuesday 29 October.

ENABLING WORKS - TUESDAY 29 OCTOBER

The shutdown requires removal of the ceiling in the BIO/BMRC atrium. This will be undertaken on the evening of Tuesday 29 October. 

During this time the staircase entry point and main doors will be closed. Exit from the staircase will be via the new personnel door or via a diversion at 02 level.

SHUTDOWN 1 - SATURDAY 2 NOVEMBER

In support of the main services upgrade to Biology, there will be a shutdown of heating and hot water services to the Biology building on Saturday 2 November.

This will not affect CEF or BMRC.

Maintenance will commence the drain down of the building from 04:00.

The system will be refilled starting 13:00.

SHUTDOWN 2 - SATURDAY 9 AND SUNDAY 10 NOVEMBER

A further shutdown of heating and hot water services on the weekend of 9-10 November will allow further isolation valves to be installed in support of the main services upgrade of the building.

This will affect Biology, BMRC and CEF.

Maintenance will commence the drain down of the building from 04:00. 

On this occasion three valves require installing: valve one will be installed by 13:00 9 November to allow the reinstatement of services to BMRC and CEF. Biology will remain isolated whilst the remaining two valves will be installed on the 9 and 10 November. The reinstatement of Biology will take Sunday 10 November after 13:00.

During this period the same diversion from the BIO/BMRC atrium staircase will take place as on Tuesday 29 October.
