Forum Christmas Event Forum Christmas Event

On 20 December 2017, the Technicians' Forum held their first Christmas Event.  There was festive food, music, tinsel and a few Santa hats!

The event was introduced by Liz Rix (Chair of our Committee, and Co-Chair of the Technician Commitment Project Board).  We were delighted to welcome Professor Fiona Lettice, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) who came to support the Forum and said a few words.  Fiona will be talking to the Executive Team about UEA possibly signing up to the Technician Commitment, which would put he focus on the needs and development of our technicians.

Those present were encouraged to fill in short forms giving details of their technical skills and hobbies/interests/hidden talents - it is hoped that this could eventually help technicians find support from each other and share their skills and knowledge, and maybe some will be willing to give short talks at Forum events about their work or interests.  In another activity we collected ideas and suggestions on large post-its about what the Forum could provide or become involved with.  The committee will be looking at these at their next meeting.

Thanks to all those who came along and we hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break.
