The theme for this year's unconference is ‘gamification’. There is much interest and good practices at UEA in this area. Some colleagues are using Blackboard facilities while others are deploying board games to support students’ exploration of difficult subjects in a novel and experiential manner.
To get conversations going, the Unconference will start with brief presentations from staff who are using or are planning to use gamification techniques in their teaching. These will provide talking points and outline key considerations.
Participants will then contribute their thoughts on the following areas:
- designing gamified activities
- introducing gamification practices (e.g. skills, support)
- understanding student responses (barriers and supports).
We will consider other areas that may emerge as a result of the discussions.
The aim is to create a series of recommendations for the university, including training, support, and CPD.
