UEA grads hailed Norfolk heroes

UEA’s Class of 2020 have received further tributes this week as an impactful (some have said emotional!) congratulatory video was released by the University, and graduates were hailed as Norfolk Heroes by the Eastern Daily Press (EDP).

The video, showing heartfelt messages from staff, alumni and graduates which was filmed being projected onto the multi-faith building in the square was released on official UEA channels and has already received overwhelming positive reactions online.

Students graduating in this year’s cohort have also been included in a list of 50 Norfolk Day Heroes published by the EDP honouring people who have gone above and beyond in Norfolk for their communities this year.

The nomination made special reference to how final year students have made Norfolk their home over several years and enriched the community in many ways; volunteering for local causes, working jobs in the local economy and even setting up businesses and social enterprises.

Another reason listed for the award was how during the COVID-19 pandemic, students have boosted the local NHS workforce, cared for NHS workers’ children, giving out face masks to elderly people and having their ceremonies postponed until 2021.

If you’re already missing campus then don’t forget that there are four special UEA Instagram filters of the Ziggurats, Square, ZICER building and New Science Building.

To use the filter, simply point the camera at yourself (or the person you want to capture). The filter works on both front and back mobile phone cameras, so you can ask someone to help you take the perfect dissertation photo or capture your selfie on our virtual campus.

Make sure to tag us (@uniofeastanglia) in your campus filter photos and stories.
