"We stand united at UEA. Regardless of leaving the EU, the UK is a European country. UEA is a European university, and always will be, regardless of membership or non-membership of the EU. We are a broad and diverse, international family and long may that be the case."
A university’s purpose is to further knowledge for the benefit of all, extending our shared understanding of how the world works and inspiring people to question, think and take action on the grand challenges facing our planet.
Welcome to the start of another academic year - one of my favourite times in the calendar, when our campus is once again alive with students. Thank you to everyone for making all our new students feel so welcome and ensuring that their introduction to UEA is a great experience for them.
As we near the end of the summer break, preparations for the start of the new academic year are gearing up – and nothing focuses our minds more than Clearing and Adjustment, which I am pleased to report has been very successful.
I hope you all enjoyed the Bank Holiday weekend, a welcome short break in a busy semester. I’m very happy to begin this message with the news that we’ve maintained our eighteenth position in the Guardian league table ranking - and that we achieved number one position for added value.
Thanks to everyone who is working so hard to help our students achieve their learning goals. We all hope an agreement to settle the industrial action can be reached soon. I support the new proposal for a joint expert panel on pensions between UUK and the UCU.
